InCamera Finds Early Local Success

John Leahy, CEO, immediac, has a vision for InCamera, his company’s new video conferencing software. He believes that InCamera can rival large out-of-the-box products like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. If early local success is any indicator, John may be right.

"Our customers were asking for a better solution," says Leahy. "They wanted a tool that was secure and based in Canada.  They needed something easy to use that could feel more like their own space."

Leahy and his team set out to create just that. The result is a product more customizable than other video conferencing softwares. immediac’s team of developers works with clients to accommodate their unique needs, making InCamera great for tradeshows, meetings, interviews or conferences. Their Halifax-based support staff is available to help foster a personalized experience that clients wouldn’t receive from Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

This is the appeal to many of InCamera’s early clients - including Digital Nova Scotia, Black Business Initiative, Burke & Burke Design, The Quinpool Road Business Association and Digital Nova Scotia. They collectively represent the start of what Leahy sees as a viable alternative to large video conferencing products.

Digital Nova Scotia (DNS) is Nova Scotia’s digital technologies industry association. They first used InCamera for a 150 guest event, according to Brianna MacAulay, DNS Member Engagement Specialist.

"We had an hour or so of panel discussion, then Q&A and networking. There were absolutly no issues, everything ran super smoothly." says MacAulay. "Everything was user friendly and intuative."

DNS capitalized on InCamera’s practical functionalities and its unique branding  components.  “Not only does it work just as well as other platforms, in a lot of ways it works a lot better.” explains MacAulay. “We were able to make it branded and specialized.”

InCamera is web-based and doesn’t require users to download a program or application. By simply clicking on a link, users can enter a secure room that facilitates as many connections as necessary - a useful, timesaving feature for events of any size. With an added host of room customization options and screen sharing and chat capabilities, InCamera is well positioned to take on Zoom and Teams as a legitimate, secure, Canadian-made alternative.

“We know we have something special here,” says Leahy, “We can't wait to keep revealing InCamera to the world.”
